I bought my first Basset Hound as a retirement present for my dad. We felt he needed company and Fredwell Lampo came to join us and we decided to show him. That was the start of a long and happy relationship that has brought me many friends and successes in

the show ring. I have now bred/owned 6 champions - Ch Barrenger Queens Indian was my first. Her son, Ch and Irish Ch Barrenger Demon King won 10 CC's and was runner-up Basset Hound of the year. His daughter was Ch Barrenger Devil's Snuffbox and her son, Ch

Barrenger Gulliver Travels won 22 CC's and was Basset Hound of the Year. I imported a young dog Bellecombe Romulus, from Mme Grace Servais as I wanted to include lines from the American Foxglen Kennel. This worked well and has produced Ch Barrenger Swanhild

and Barrenger Bellringer who has 2 CC's. My other champion was a pick of litter who became Ch Argemone Flanders Fields of Barrenger.

I live on the Somerset Levels which was badly flooded for several weeks in 2014. We were marooned by the flood water and had to be evacuated for 6 weeks. You may have seen pictures of all our dogs and cats being taken by a huge digger to safety. We followed

by canoe!

I have judged several Championship shows in the UK including most of the Basset clubs. I have also judged bitches at the Netherlands Basset Club Championship show and a Championship show in Switzerland. I am judging Basset Hounds at Crufts in 2019.
